Check with your GP if you need any vaccinations depending on which country you will be visiting.

Prescriptions

If you have prescribed medication, make sure you have sufficient supplies for the duration of your time abroad. 

 

Sun Safety

Follow the Cancer Research UK's SunSmart Messages:

 

  • Spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm.
  • Make sure you never burn.
  • Aim to cover up with a T-shirt, hat and sunglasses.
  • Remember to take extra care with children.
  • Then use factor 15+ sunscreen.

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

Apply for an EHIC online and take the card with you when you go abroad as you may be entitled to medical care at a reduced cost or sometimes free, depending on which country you are going to.

E. Coli Update - June 2011

Travellers to Germany should to follow the advice of the German authorities and avoid eating raw tomatoes, cucumbers and leafy salad including lettuce, especially in the north of the country, until further notice.

 

In addition anyone returning from Germany with illness including bloody diarrhoea should seek urgent medical attention and make sure they mention their recent travel history.
