Health Strategies

In order to improve the health of the people of Southampton, the public health team has produced a series of strategies and plans to guide our work across the City.

 

Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy

This strategy responds to the local need for a targeted alcohol strategy. The document aims to identify and promote the work of partners and to enable cross or joint working to combat alcohol related harm.

 

Fuel Poverty Strategy

The Southampton Warmth for All Partnership has a produced a Fuel Poverty and Health Strategy. This looks at the health impack of fuel poverty, excess winter deaths and the locations of vulnerable groups within the City. It also proposes an action plan to address fuel poverty in Southampton.

 

Health & Wellbeing Strategy

The Southampton Health and Wellbeing Partnership has produced this strategic plan for the City's health and wellbeing covering the period 2009-2012 in order to address a number of local priorities for action that were idenitified in the Joint Strategic Needs Asessment carried out last year.

 

Later Years Strategy

The Strategy aims to encourage healthier lifestyles, increase the availability of health-related information and improve access to services that meet the needs of older people. 

 

Local Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy

This strategy sets the scene for a multi-agency approach to tackling deprivation in the most disadvantaged communities by focusing intiatives and resources and making public serivces more relevant and useful to local people.

 

Memory Matters - A Joint Commissioning Vision for People with Dementia 2009-2014

Southampton City PCT and Southampton City Council have created a vision in order to positively transform services for older people with dementia within Southampton city over the next five years.  

 

Obesity Strategy

This strategy presents proposals for action related to obesity, which will be achieved through partnership working across health, the Local Authority and the wider community.

 

Physical Activity Strategy

The strategy is designed to inform a local, multi-agency partnership approach to increasing the physical activity levels of Southampton residents.  It will provide an overview of what is currently happening in the city, set objectives for the development of a physical activity strategy and suggest ways that this can be taken forward in order to address targets set out in current health policy.

 

Suicide Prevention Strategy

This strategy presents recommendations and an implementation plan for concerted action by all partners actively involved in preventing suicides of local people.

 

Children and Young People's Plan

The Children and Young People’s Plan is part of a set of plans under the leadership of the Southampton Partnership. Together, these plans reflect the City Council’s priorities. The Children and Young People’s Plan reflects those priorities which seek to promote economic prosperity, raise attainment, reduce crime and improve the wellbeing of all its residents, especially the most vulnerable.
